my arms

You curled into my arms once upon a time when tears, fears, and sleepy eyes brought you there.

How I miss the warmth of your soul safe harbored within mine.

Arms now with elbows locked, straight forward, like borders and lines respect does not cross.

I’ve no idea who catches your tears who caresses your fears.

I watch you from a distance of love that parents and lost lovers come to know.

And, just as love does, I pull you deep into my waiting arms, deep into my unfailing heart,

…awaiting elbows to bend.
